Hi, and welcome to Worth the Detour! We’re a mother-daughter travel team, and this is where we share the places we think are worth going a little out of your way for.
Who we are
I’m Wendy, and I travel with my mom. We started Worth the Detour in August 2026 after realizing that some of our favorite memories together came from the trips we almost didn’t take: the small-town main streets, the quirky roadside stops, the boutique hotels and the local spots you only find by asking around.
We don’t always agree on what makes a great trip, and that’s half the fun. Mom might fall in love with an antique shop or a quiet state park while I’m hunting for the best hotel lobby or a sunset view. You’ll get both of our perspectives here, so you can decide what fits your own travel style.

We write about what we experience ourselves and tell you what we honestly thought, including what we’d skip. We usually leave prices out of our posts because they change quickly; always check current rates and hours before you go.
